Tree/Hedge Maintenance
Here at Evoke Grounds Maintenance we offer professional hedge cutting, trimming, and reductions throughout South wales, Using a variety of hedge cutting and access equipment we can make easy work out of even the most troublesome overgrown hedge.
From Leylandii and Laurel hedging, to traditional mixed hedgerows, we approach all jobs with the same mindset. That is to attain a neat, level, aesthetically pleasing boundary hedge that our customers will be proud of.
HEDGE TRIMMING
We use a selection of professional hedge trimmers, both short and long reach to help us trim hedges of any height and width. With the assistance of step ladders, MEWPS(cherry picker) and in some cases via climbing, hedge height is no problem for us at all.
HEDGE REDUCTIONS
In many cases, we are asked to heavily reduce overgrown hedges. Leylandii are the usual suspects, however, we do get asked to reduce all manner of hedge types. Often with Leylandii they can reach a size that makes a reduction futile. Too heavy a reduction of the top can have a negative impact on the hedges vitaility, while too much off the sides will most certainly result in no future growth. Other species such as Hawthorn, Field Maple, or Laurel, can be reduced harder and with great results.
OVERGROWN HEDGE RESTORATIONS
For overgrown hedges of a suitable variety, it is often possible to carry out a restoration process to restore the hedge to its former glory. This is typically carried out over a longer period and involves a combination of heavy height and width reduction, along with replanting any gaps. The hedge is subsequently maintained with regular trimming to encourage the new growth to form a dense and compact new hedgerow. We typically expect this process to start yielding great results after a 2-3 year period.

Mole / Rabbit control
We have several methods of controlling specific pests, whether it be traps, shooting or live catch. This allows us to provide you with the latest and most effective forms of pest control.
Moles:
Here at Evoke grounds maintenance ltd the only method of mole control that we use is trapping due to its effectiveness and the fact you can physically tell once you have caught the mole in the trap.
Moles are caught by digging down to the moles tunnels and placing traps in the tunnel systems. These traps will intercept the mole as it is traveling down the tunnel and as the mole hits or pushes its way through the trap it will trigger the trap and humanely dispatch the mole.
A dibber or probe is used to locate the moles tunnel systems. The dibber is essentially a long, thin rod that is pushed into the ground to feel for the tunnels. Once a tunnel has been located and the trap has been set and installed, it is then back filled and is now ready to trap the mole. Traps are marked with flags so we know where each of our traps are located for when we come back to retrieve them. Mole traps are checked every 24 hours and any moles that are caught are removed from the trap.
After we are confident that we have dealt with the problem moles, we lift the traps and backfill the holes. You will not be able to tell where the trap has been other than a small patch of soil, and after a short period of time grass should start to grown back.
Rabbits:
Over the last three years Evoke Grounds Maintenance ltd have received a huge spike in the number of calls received from domestic households that are suffering from rabbits and the impacts they can have within the garden or properties structures.
There are several factors that are causing rabbit populations to build within the domestic environment:
Lack of rabbit control by the agricultural sectors.
Rabbit are now breeding all year around due to milder winters.
The domestic garden environment can prove ideal for rabbit populations to thrive.
Here at Evoke Ground Maintenance ltd we use several methods of control whether it is fencing and drop boxes or traps and ferrets we can ensure the issue is dealt with swiftly and efficiently. If done correctly, ferreting can be an incredibly effective form of rabbit control, our team spend an awful lot of time handling, training and working our ferrets which has made them a formidable work force.
Ferreting is also an incredibly sustainable form of control, firstly no toxic chemicals are put into the ground which may potentially cause suffering to the rabbits, land or non-target species, Ferreting also allows us to reclaim the rabbit bodies which we utilise either by feeding to the ferrets, put into the human food chain or fed out to raptors, birds of prey, foxes, badgers etc.
